The NUS Business School Alumni Association (NUSBSA), together with the NUS Bizad Club, proudly kicked off the School’s 60th-anniversary celebrations with the 15th edition of the Bizad Charity Run on 11 January 2025.Despite the weekend’s monsoon surge, over 800 students, alumni, and faculty members laced up and braved the rain around the NUS Kent Ridge campus—running either the 5km Fun Run or the 10km Competitive Race—all united by one goal: to raise funds for financially disadvantaged students and youth at risk.
This year’s NUS BCR run raised close to S$300,000, contributing to the NUSBSA Bursary, Student Experience Fund, and Youth Guidance Outreach Services (YGOS). Over the years, the Bizad Charity Run has collectively raised more than S$3 million, supporting over 600 students and various community partners. The 2025 race was officially flagged off by Mr Eric Chua, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth & Ministry of Social and Family Development.
A Legacy of Giving Back

One of the most heartwarming stories behind the run comes from Mr Yeo Keng Joon (MBA 1985), who planted the seed for the NUSBSA Bursary with a S$25,000 donation in 2006 to commemorate his son’s wedding. Mr Yeo and his family have since participated in every edition of the Bizad Charity Run, rallying the alumni community to give back. Today, the bursary supports 53 students annually, embodying the spirit of paying it forward.
“Every year, we meet students whose stories move us deeply,” Mr Yeo shared. “Some tear up when asked why they applied for the bursary. It reminds us that our small acts can change lives.”
One such beneficiary, Andrew Lee (Class of 2021), shared that the bursary enabled him to go on an exchange programme in the US — an experience that broadened his perspective and inspired him to one day give back as well.
Youth Empowerment Beyond Campus

The 2025 run also deepened its social impact through its partnership with Youth Guidance Outreach Services (YGOS), a charity dedicated to supporting at-risk youth through mentorship and friendship.
When Shoi Nakanishi, Vice Project Director for External Partners, met the YGOS team, he was struck by their mission.“It felt aligned with our purpose — supporting university students and younger teens alike, giving them both the confidence and avenues to grow,” he shared.
Esha Kejriwal, Director of Sponsorships and Fundraising, added,“Working with YGOS extends our reach beyond campus. It’s about helping those who may not have the same opportunities, so they can still shine. That’s what keeps us going.”
Celebrating 60 Years of Impact

The Bizad Charity Run 2025 marks the first event in a series of year-long celebrations for the NUS Business School’s 60th anniversary — a milestone that celebrates six decades of nurturing leaders and shaping Singapore’s business landscape.
From its humble beginnings as a small department with just four staff and 24 students, the School has grown into one of Asia’s leading business schools, with over 280 faculty members, 3,000 students, and a global alumni family of 47,000 strong.
“NUS Business School has built a proud legacy of leadership and service,” said Distinguished Professor Andrew Rose, Dean of NUS Business School. “As we look ahead, we remain committed to fostering excellence and shaping a sustainable future for generations to come.”
